Conny Ochs/Black Happy/Exile On Mainstream/2013 CD Review

Conny  Ochs  is  a  musician  from  Germany  that  plays  a  doom  influenced  form  of  neo  folk  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2013  album  "Black  Happy"  which  will  be  released  by  Exile  On  Mainstream.

Acoustic  guitars range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  neo  folk  riffs  that  use  finger  picking  and  full  chords  with  some  doom  influences  and d ark  sounding  melodies  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  along  with  a  brief  use  of  distortion,  while  the  vocals  are  all  clean  singing  folk  rock  vocals,  as  for  the  harmonicas  when  they  are  utilized  they  bring  a  blues  influence  to  the  recording.

Lyrics  cover  darkness  and  everyday  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  dark  and  professional  sound  with  the  vocals,  harmonicas  and  guitars  having  a  great  sound  to  them  and  they  are  the  only  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

In  my  opinion  Conny  Ochs  is  a  very  great  sounding  neo  folk  rock  musician  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "No Sleep  Tonight"  "Die  In  Your  Arms"  "Trust  In  Love"  and  "Phantom  Pain".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
